The new Westgate Tower will see its completion in 2019.

The new Westgate Tower is owned by Split entrepreneur Josip Komar, an investor in the construction of many buildings in Croatia – and Zagreb company ‘Tehnika,’ is the primary contractor of the project. The 27-story tower in Split, due for completion next year, will exceed the height of the Zagreb Cathedral, reports Poslovni.hr May 16, 2018.

The total height of the building will be the ground floor plus 27 overhead floors, according to an announcement by the company, and the foreseeable total value of the construction of all levels up to full functionality amounts to 260 million kuna excluding VAT. The approximate completion date for construction is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019.

“After completing the construction of the hotel building with accompanying amenities, ‘WESTGATE B’, which will bear the name ‘Dalmatia Tower’, will be 130 meters tall and officially the tallest building in Croatia, within which the first Croatian Marriott hotel will operate”, said the Director of Tehnika, Zlatko Sirovec, adding that the Dalmatia Tower project won the prestigious European Property Awards for the best business building in Europe.

“We are happy to continue with the construction works, we believe in our project partner Tehnika, and we expect the first Croatian Marriott Hotel to open in the second quarter of next year,” Komar said.

It is unofficially known that there is also a substantial interest to move into the rest of the available space in the facility – and precisely by a sizeable Norwegian company from the ICT sector coming to Split soon to open 500 new jobs. In addition to the Norwegians, Teleperformance, the world’s leading provider of phone support to companies from various business sectors, is also seriously interested. For the headquarters of their first Croatian branch office, which is planned to be opened by the end of the year, they have reportedly selected this facility for their permanent accommodation. The company is also known to employ younger people with a diploma or foreign language learners with a net salary of around 6,000 kuna.

On May 4th, the contract signing ceremony with the largest global hotel brand, Marriott, was held. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Predrag Štromar, Minister of Tourism Gari Cappelli, Mayor of Split Andro Krstulović Opara, Zlatko Sirovec of Tehnika, as well as representatives of HBOR, the Investment and Competitiveness Agency, Splitska banka and OTP.
