The World Cup is helping many domestic economic sectors experience record profit and turnover.
With Rakitić as the main promoter of Kraš’s Domaćica sales, significant double-digit figures continue to grow, according to Kraš’s Marica Vidaković.
As VLM/Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 12th of July, 2018, the idea was to engage Croatian footballer Domagoj Vida this summer in promoting their chips, and now it seems the company are glad they didn’t.
”The quantities we’ve been selling these days are record-breaking, we even have to reject some orders,” stated Kanaan’s Zvonko Popović. It seems though, the game aside, chips are being consumed like crazy owing to watching the games, raising Kanaan’s orders by more than 50 percent of the average amount.
”We had to limit delivery quantities for some, and we refused about 30 percent of our orders completely. Since the World Cup began, the factory in Donji Miholjac has been operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We make about 120 tons of chips a week and we’re literally missing another line, as well as potatoes. Everything we could do earlier, we did, but it still isn’t enough,” explained Popović, as the football euphoria encourages yet more record growth in Croatia with other snacks, as well as souvenirs, beer and other alcoholic and soft drinks, ćevapi, sausages, televisions…
Believe it or not, in less than a month, more specifically in just three weeks from the beginning of the World Cup, Croats spent almost as much as they did back in December, which is considered to be the busiest month of the year when it comes to splashing the cash owing to Christmas.
From June the 16th to July the 7th, a total of 159,980,406 fiscalised receipts in the amount of 12,957,879,065.33 kuna were released, according data taken from the Tax Administration. In the same period one year earlier, when Croatia’s mind was set purely and only on the tourist season and summer, 12.2 billion kuna of good were purchased, which stands at about 700 million kuna less.
With the last quarter-final match between Croatia and Russia on July the 7th, a total of 8,154,618 fiscal recepits were registered in the fiscal system, which is 9 percent more than in the same day just one week before, when there were 7,498,407 issued, while a registered growth of 6 percent in the same observed period was recorded. The most prominent of all was the match between Croatia and Argentina which took place on the 21st of June, when compared with June the 14th, growth stood at 13 percent, and total spending was at 14 percent, or 700 million kuna.
On the day of the match between Croatia and Nigeria on June the 16th, 7.4 million fiscal receipts worth 627 million kuna were issued, on June the 26th, the day of the match with Iceland, 8.2 million worth 625 million kuna were issued, and on the 1st of July, when Croatia defeated Denmark, 5.4 million fiscal receipts worth 429 million kuna were processed.
As has been previously touched on, Rakitić is currently the main promoter of Kraš’s beloved Domaćica, and sales growth has been through the roof, with significant double-digit figures confirming the fact.
“It’s difficult to send larger volumes to the football camp but Rakitić isn’t giving up on his modest daily portion of a box or two,” Vidaković joked.
Traffic in the HoReCa sector (hotels, restaurants, cafes), where watching the game is organised, is promising, with growth of 100% compared to regular days when there are no matches. In the stores, total turnover grew by 25%, and the sale of souvenirs, snacks, beer, cigarettes, alcoholic and soft drinks are up by 80%, with numerous sectors recording huge growth and record breaking profit and turnover.
