Split’s IT industry continues to grow.
Their office is on the third floor of Split’s West Gate Business Center in Split. They are employees of the Dutch company Typeqast, an IT company headquartered in Amsterdam and in Split. Typeqast currently employes 45 people, they have also opened an office in Zagreb, and there are plans for new employment and company expansion, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 3, 2018.
Marko Barić leads the company in Croatia, and is the CEO of “Typeqast” Croatia. In partnership with HR manager Monika Souček, they lead an office tailored to the needs of young people from the IT industry. Most of the employees are in the Split office, though several of them are in Zagreb. Typeqast was founded by several Dutch entrepreneurs who found Split and the Adriatic coast to be a unique location.
“When they were on vacation in Split last year, a few of the Dutch investors concluded that it would be best to set up an IT company instead of using the services of others. The Typeqast founders loved Split, and we have direct flights between Split and Amsterdam, so they started contacting people in Split and came to me. We all agreed and the job began, the company was founded last October. On the first day we were 9 employees, and now we are 45. I think we are the fastest growing IT firm in Split, maybe even beyond. In Croatia we deal with the development of IT solutions, and in the Netherlands we focus on the business side of our story,” says Marko Barić.
“Having experience in IT is a good decision,” says Marko. He completed the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Shipbuilding and Mechanical Engineering (FESB) in Split, and lived and worked with his family in London for a few years because he could not find a good job in Split in this industry.
The climate quickly changed, however, and compared to the previous years, the IT scene in Split is booming. IT firms have developed, and people from all sides are finding work in the industry.
“Now it is a different story, I would not have gone to London if it was like this then. New companies have opened, new jobs have been created,” says Barić. Most of the Typeqast employees are from the Split area, and a significant number of them live in Solin, though there is also an Indian employee who worked in Los Angeles, moved to Split with several colleagues, and stayed.
At the Zagreb office, a tender for 14 more employees is currently open. Overall, by the end of 2018, the company plans to reach 60 employees, and more than a hundred people should work there next year. They are all employed for an indefinite period of time, and have several students engaged through a student-service.
It is also interesting that the employees can enjoy a bit of relaxation in the office, with chess, drawing, snacks and the like. A garage space is paid for the employees, they have breakfast together on Tuesdays, while Friday all employees are released at 15:00 – and as Barić says, they with a smile on their face.
“Every two weeks, every employee has a meeting with their supervisor to talk about any issues they are experiencing, and we go through all of the projects together once a month,” he continued. The average age of our employees is 29 years old, and women make up 30 percent of the company.
They even measure their employee’s satisfaction with a ‘happiness index’.

Quick Parking
Airport parking control platform which covers some of the largest European airports where Quick Parking has its own parking lots.
“We’ve built a whole platform that includes a booking system, a website, mobile applications used by people in the parking lots, a system that manages ramps and charges at the parking lot itself, and more. Everything is in the Cloud and the transition to this platform has enabled the client to continue growing in their business segment without worrying if their IT system can support their business,” said Typeqast.
Servicehouse
The platform for electricity trading is used by dozens of large companies in the Netherlands.
“What we are doing is the implementation of a new billing service that ensures that accounts are properly billed. We collaborate with a few other companies because the platform is quite complex. We also have our own Product Owners who work directly with clients in Amsterdam and allow us to be in constant contact with them,” added the Split office.
Boat Bike Tours
Booking system for river cruising. Their clients are companies that have river cruises in the Netherlands and other European countries.
“We have created a complete system that manages the company’s business, from a website to a booking system integrated with tourist agencies, to integration with various platforms for sale in the backend. This project has enabled the client to take the lead in the market in their industry because their competition does not have any well-elaborated IT systems as we have developed,” concluded the Typeqst team.
