On Monday, Marijan Kustić, the executive director of HNS, met with representatives of Hajduk and the Split mayor in Zagreb.
The Hajduk Supervisory Board revealed the details of the Monday meeting after the request of Naš Hajduk and many of the Split club’s members who sought answers, reports Gol.hr on May 2, 2019.
President of NO Hajduk Benjamin Perasović attended the meeting with Hajduk president Marin Brbić and Split mayor Andro Krstulović Opara. Hajduk decided to reveal the details of the meeting after news of its occurrence were made public.
The Hajduk Supervisory Board report in its entirety:
“Hajduk’s supporters and the general public do not need further clarification of the relationship that has ruled within Croatian football for many years, hence the position of Hajduk who is exposed to many pressures and injustices. At the same time, the success of the national football team cannot be a fig leaf for numerous affairs, judicial processes and (no) legitimate verdicts, as a result of existing patterns of behavior of a part of the people in Croatian football.
In spite of everything and respecting the desire and expectations of football fans in Dalmatia, Hajduk applied to host a home game in this (Euro) qualifying cycle, but with a well-known and well-defined set of conditions for necessary reforms in the Croatian Football Federation. From HNS we received a proposal as a response to Croatia’s match against Hungary in October at Poljud, at the same time expressing the desire to hold a meeting during which the details of the organization of the game would be discussed.
The delegation of the club strengthened by the Split mayor responded to the call and went on to talk about HNS’s readiness to meet Hajduk’s demands and all the well-known demands on the reforms in Croatian football. Fulfilling these requirements would be a significant step in establishing a transparent, fair and impartial football organization that works for the interests of all of Croatian football and not just small interest groups, which has been the case for many years. The meeting discussed the readiness of HNS and the ways and deadlines in which the demands could be realized. It was concluded that the talks would only be resumed if there is the good and honest will of HNS to tackle the controversial issues that burden relations and hinder the development of Croatian football. HNS also has the word ‘Croatian’ in its name, so we think it can be an alliance exclusively to all of us, no matter what club’s color we belong to. Because we are privatized, we do not have to and will not accept it, and we will continue to fight for the equality of all the right actors.
At this moment, we emphasize again that in our work we do not participate in things that would be hidden from fans, shareholders and the public, even in this case. Many tasks and challenges that stand in front of the club every day are in the process of being solved, as are the relations with HNS. After our candidacy, the Federation expressed the desire to talk about all the problems that burden Croatian football. Hajduk responded to the discussion and made their demands as a necessary minimum for starting new relations in Croatian football. There is not much time, so we will soon be able to see how HNS will express the seriousness of their intentions after the discussion.”
