Hajduk’s management comments on fan behaviour on the recent visit to the Czech Republic.
The management of Hajduk is extremely unhappy with the behaviour of fans during the match in Liberec on Thursday, reports Index.hr on August 22, 2015. Members of Torcida have thrown a smoke bomb, set fire to the stands and created chaos. The Czech police said that there were robberies before the game as well. There were about 800 supporters of Hajduk who had come to the north of the Czech Republic.
Hajduk is now again waiting for UEFA’s sanctions and is hoping that it will only be a fine. It has already paid some 115,000 euros for improper conduct of fans during the five qualification matches in Europe this summer. Hajduk is still waiting for the sanctions for the recent visit to Norway, where the supporters have also used their pyrotechnic arsenal. The club has asked the fans to behave, but it did not help.
Chairman of Hajduk Marin Brbić was very clear. “These are not fans! There were some 500 fans with regular tickets, and they didn’t create any problems, but again our enemies have managed to get to the stands. I have no words, I am bitter and broken. Some of them came there just to make a mess. I do not even know how to call them. Do we deserve this?”, said angry Brbić.
The club is trying to solve the debt problems which were created by previous management teams, but the fans are not helping them. “It was incredible, I just do not know what to say. They swear by the club, and then cause it so much damage. It is time to remove all such individuals from the club”, said the chairman of Hajduk.
Hajduk has already sold out the Poljud stadium for the return tie on August 27. The sanctions for incidents in Liberec will be given out after the UEFA meeting and it is expected that it will be a large fine. Of course, there is also the problem of bad image for Hajduk in the eyes of the hosts from the Czech Republic.
