The town of Trilj dazzles once again!
“Stari Most”, which translates to “The Old Bridge”, is a famous monument in the town of Trilj.
Historically, the bridge was an iron bridge in which construction first began in 1878 under the watchful eye of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Emporer Joseph is also known to have granted permission and financial resources to build the bridge itself. The bridge opened on September 29, 1880, on the feast of Sv. Mihovila, the patron of the town of Trilj.
The reconstruction of the bridge is mentioned in documents from February 20, 1909, and the plan layout of the Cetina River in Trilj indicates the construction of a temporary wooden bridge, which, according to written documentation, is in the exact position as today.

Over the years, the Trilj Bridge has become a popular tourist attraction which, unfortunately, in recent years, has been more of a threat to the residents and visitors who have walked across it because of its age. The bridge, however, has finally been renovated, complete with new lighting. This new renovation once again draws eyes to sparkle towards one of Inland Dalmatia’s most fascinating destinations.
