If you’re planning on making the journey from Zagreb to Split, why not stop at Plitvice Lakes? Lucky for you, Solo Transfers knows just how to get you there.

The journey from the Croatian capital to the Dalmatian capital isn’t as easy as everyone imagines. While there are over 400 kilometers (and about 4 hours of driving time) between the two cities, we thought we’d suggest the best solution for you to make this travel day a bit less painless, and a bit more interesting. If you’re already planning on making the journey from Zagreb to Split, why not spruce up your trip with a stop at Plitvice Lakes National Park?

Plitvice Lakes National Park is almost perfectly situated between the two largest Croatian cities. From Zagreb, the famous park is about 130 kilometers and two hours away, and from Split the famous park is about 240 kilometers and 2.5 hours away. Since nearly 5 hours of straight driving between the two cities would not appeal to most, we suggest you make a pit stop and embrace nature’s beauty at Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the largest national park in Croatia with 295 square meters of forest reserve and 16 terraced lakes, waterfalls, and limestone canyons. In addition to being one of the oldest parks in Southeast Europe, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register in 1979. Without saying much more, these photos should persuade you to stop (and most likely want to stay…forever).
