Grič Tunnel is one of those locations in Zagreb where creativity of the people involved in organizing Advent and their desire to create something very unique and appropriate for the setting of a WWII 500-meter long tunnel in the centre of the city really becomes obvious.
After last year’s opening to the public, after decades of neglect, and the first successful participation in the Zagreb Advent events, this year the organizers have decided to go one step further, so during this December we had the opportunity to see two different, although both very appropriate settings in the tunnel.
For the first fortnight of Advent in Zagreb the scene of the tunnel called “Memory” took us back to the times described by the great Charles Dickens, and then the tunnel was closed for a brief period and the entire scenery has been changed. Now, for the period between December 19th and January 7th the tunnel will take us on a journey of our wishes, telling us how every one of us has a right to a big wish for Christmas. How big? Find the answer in the Grič tunnel, with their re-done scenery featuring the oversized toys, called “Wish”. This scenery in the tunnel will be especially interesting for the little ones, however all of us adults who still feel the bit of a child somewhere deep inside might want to go take a peek as well.
So, even if you’ve already been to the Grič tunnel during this holiday period and have taken the stroll down the Charles Dickens memory lane, the oversized toys of the “Wish” are bound to make you smile and wish you were a kid again, wishing for all those toys!
