A new film, including ex-President Stipe Mesić and filmed on Hvar, is out now in the cinemas.
One difference between Croatia and the UK is the accessibility of public figures. Without really trying this year, I have found myself within a metre of the prime minister, the president and the biggeest Croatian hero, Ante Gotovina.
It was therefore not a surprise to find ex-President Stipe Mesić, who is a big Hvarophile, rocking up in Jelsa a couple of years ago to act in a film, as we reported for Google News at the time, a film which is out now in the cinemas.
Filip Šovagović’s new movie, Visoka Modna Napetost (High Fashion Tension), which was filmed in the picturesque resort of Jelsa on the northern coast of Croatia’s premier island.
Whatever the former president’s acting abilities, one thing is certain – he finds himself among a quality cast of Croatian actors, as the cast includes famous names such as Goran and Bojan Navojec, Marija Škaričić , and Nataša Janjić. The film is the story of three brothers, political, religiously fanatical and criminal, who live in a small island environment.
