Biklijada – August, Vrgorac

Daniela Rogulj

During September and October, from the harvesting of grapes to All Saints, a traditional drink called Bikla is drank in the Vrgorac region. It is a blend of young red wine and goat’s milk, with a bold taste and surprisingly pink color which makes the drink recognizable. The Biklijada in Vrgorac, in the ambience of the old town of the city, is the town’s main tourist event and central folk festival dedicated to ‘bikla’, songs and traditional customs. The first weekend is held in October with rich content; an evening fair of domestic products and handicrafts of old crafts, tasting of bikla and gastronomic specialties, music and entertainment program of folklore and klapa and a sports competition.
