Supermarket chain Lidl presented the project “Flavors of your homeland” at the farm of Zlatko Vinković in Belica yesterday. This new project allows domestic producers of fruits and vegetables to sell their products on the shelves of Lidl stores throughout Croatia.
In addition to this primary objective, the wish to encourage the competitiveness of Croatian family farms will take form through a competition that is open from 4 November to 15 December, reports Poslovni.hr.
Zlatko Vinković is the longest-running Lidl supplier who in 10 years of cooperation, has significantly expanded his production of potatoes and onions to all 89 Lidl stores in Croatia.
“We started as a small family farm over 30 years, and the cooperation with Lidl we started around 10 years ago when we supplied to their first 13 Croatian stores. Today, potatoes and onions, and soon pumpkins will be supplied to all 89 Lidl stores, and we recently had to move our warehouse into a new facility of about 7,000 square meters. We can say that our turnover grew along with Lidl and thanks to Lidl. I want to, in the name of my family, say thank you to Lidl, and we hope that this is only the first 10 years of success,” says Zlatko Vinković , Lidl supplier from Belica next Čakovec.
“Our goal is to facilitate the sale of products of domestic manufacturers in our stores, which is currently 89 in all of Croatia. Considering that food production is a strategic interest of every country, we would like to project ‘Flavors of your homeland’ to additionally support farms in domestic production and quality of fruits and vegetables throughout Croatia, boosting the competitiveness of family farms and our customers with an even wider selection of daily fresh fruits and vegetables from the Croatian fields,” concludes the Board of Lidl Croatia.
