Dubrovnik Music Wave: Music Festival for All Tastes on Lokrum!

Lauren Simmonds

An island music festival with a twist…

As DuList reports on the 24th of September, 2017, the island of Lokrum will host the Dubrovnik Music Wave Festival, a festival which showcases all different genres of music, on October the 13th and 14th, 2017.

Pop, rock, jazz, blues, electronic, alternative, indie, house, and more will all be ”under the same roof” on the island.

It doesn’t really need to be stated that music is, and always has been, an extremely powerful means of connecting people. It bridges the linguistic and cultural divisions and in very many cases, serves as a perfectly acceptable expression of personal identity. In this way, the musical ”ecosystem” collectively generates rich social, cultural and economic benefits on a huge scale. The great vibrations of the very first edition of Lokrum’s festival will certainly be no different and live music has never been as popular as it is today.

During the two-day festival held on Lokrum, Kim Cameron & SideFX, Warp Brothers, Mila Falls, Tanya Fenmore, Judy Cehmm, Game Chasers, Lilly Palmer, Gemma Louise Doyle and many others will entertain an international and domestic audience.

In addition, the Dubrovnik Music Wave Festival will feature some of the young, independent performers from different parts of the world who will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, as one of the goals of this festival is to serve as a respected platform for talent scouting and helping young artists to affirm their places on the hard-to-reach international music scene.

Croatia is emerging as one of the newest destinations on the music festival scene and without a doubt, has a great deal of untapped potential. The current ”offer” in this area as far as live music is concerned has so far been dominated by electronic music festivals, so there is definitely a gap in the market and the need for a festival featuring diverse music genres that open and attract a wider spectrum of both international and domestic audiences.

The Dubrovnik Music Wave Festival is organised by GLAM Media UK, an international music management, marketing, PR and a promotion company focusing on the music industry, numerous advisory partners, and in cooperation with the Lokrum Reserve. The festival also has the support and cooperation of local partners, including the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourist Board, Croatia Airlines, Gulliver Travel, Valamar Hotel Group, Rixos Libertas Hotel and Hotel More.
