Girls Choir “Zvjezdice” from Zagreb celebrated its 30th anniversary with a beautiful concert in a crowded Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Under the direction of choirmaster maestro Zdravko Šljivac, and with instrumental accompaniment of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tamburitza Orchestra of the Croatian Radio-Television, Zvjezdice were joined by Martina Zadro, Siniša Galović and Leon Košavić, as well as some of the former members of the choir: Tanja Ruždjak, Mima Karaula, Nina Badrić, Marija Husar Rimac and Ivana Husar Mlinac, reports Vecernji List on September 20, 2015.

The concert was opened with a cappella rendition of “Magnificat” by Davorin Kempf, and the repertoire included works by Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach, Stevan Mokranjac, Josip Magdić, as well as songs Amazing Grace and Edelweiss, and folk songs by Božo Potočnik and Siniša Leopold.

The concert concluded with a performance of “Mir”, a song which was performed by Zvjezdice in 1991 during a concert at the Croatian National Theatre, which on that occasion recorded the largest attendance in its more than a hundred years old long history.

The choir was welcomed by the Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić, who announced that he will nominate Zvjezdice for the annual Award of the City of Zagreb. Journalist Branimir Pofuk spoke about the achievements of the choir, while the creative director of “Croatia Records” Nikola Mazalin presented their latest record “Brahms, Britten”.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the choir and Zdravko Šljivac received the Charter of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra for outstanding achievement and excellence. The Charter was presented by director of the Orchestra Mirko Boch.

During its 30 years, Zvjezdice have taken part in an extraordinary number of solo performances and concerts, have won numerous prizes and awards, participated in major national and international music projects with many national and international orchestras, soloists and conductors. The choir gave its outstanding contribution to the Croatian discography with a large number of recorded CDs and DVDs. Zvjezdice have visited almost the whole world, from Europe and the United States to Australia and Malaysia, achieving great international success. In December, the choir will leave for its fourth American tour.
