Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Supports Abolishing Toll on Krk Bridge

Could paying to use Krk bridge soon become a thing of the past?

As Morski writes on the 24th of February, 2018, following discussions among political parties, the Assembly of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has adopted a text on the initiative to abolish the toll for the use of Krk bridge, which is frequently used by both residents and visitors of the Cres-Lošinj islands.

As stated in the text of the initiative, and as reported by Otoci.net/Bojan Purić, the text also includes the abolition of the toll fee through the Učka tunnel and the release of the need to pay a toll payment for vehicles registered in Gorski Kotar County.

Residents from Krk, Rab, Cres and Lošinj now have the right to cross the bridge freely, but that right doesn’t extend to others who fall outside the category of resident in those areas.

The proposal was adopted by the assemblies unanimously, and Prefect Zlatko Komadin was given the authority to undertake further steps in relation to bringing the idea to fruition via the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, the head of which is Oleg Butković.
