May the 6th, 2025 – An impressive 3 million euro investment for Zagreb youth is on the cards in the form of a brand new sports and recreation centre.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Vecernji writes, the development of the main design for the new Luka Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) in Bistrička Street has begun.
This 3 million euro investment for Zagreb youth applies to a green belt area between the Luka Sesvete Elementary School and the Sesvete Gymnasium. The project should be submitted for a building permit in mid-July this year, after which the tender for the construction work will be launched. The project is worth 3 million euros, for which the money has been secured within the budget of the City of Zagreb.
“The promenade along the Vuger stream, next to the aforementioned elementary and secondary schools, is the green centre of the neighbourhood for children and young people. It is used by families and all of Sesvete’s residents who want to walk around and socialise. That’s why we’re investing in a sports and recreation centre here, in order to provide children and young people with new, high-quality facilities for sports, socialising and spending time outdoors,” emphasised the Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomašević.
The million euro investment for Zagreb youth will be located on an area spanning almost 18,500 square metres, between Otona Ivekovića Street and Bistrička Street. It will have two five-a-side football and handball fields, two basketball courts, two bocce courts, table tennis tables and an athletics track. The sports centre will also include a children’s playground area, an outdoor exercise area and pavilions for various outdoor activities, as well as supporting spaces such as changing rooms, toilets and service areas.
