ZAGREB, May 22, 2018 – The Croatian Bar Association has taken disciplinary action against lawyers Boris Šavorić, Toni Smrček and Tin Dolički who were involved in the drafting of the law on the Agrokor food and retail group and the restructuring of the indebted conglomerate.
All three lawyers are suspected of legal malpractice and unprofessional representation, while Šavorić is also suspected of violating attorney-client privilege.
Šavorić and Smrček were involved in the so-called Hotmail affair, which resulted in the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Martina Dalić last week. Email correspondence leaked by a news website showed that the suspects were involved in the drafting of the Agrokor law while at the same time their law firm represented the Russian bank VTB, one of Agrokor’s creditors.
Dolički represented the American fund Knighthead Capital Management on Agrokor’s creditors council and then became an adviser to the former government-appointed emergency administrator of Agrokor Ante Ramljak.
