August the 10th, 2023 – The wildly popular Croatian Njuskalo ad/selling platform has developed its very own instant booking platform. It’s safe to say that it’s doing very well indeed.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Marija Crnjak writes, a few years ago, spurred by increased demand, the Croatian Njuskalo platform developed their very own Tourism platform, with ads for renting accommodation. Njuskalo classifieds took a big step forward this season – in partnership with the company MyRent, they developed their own instant booking platform, which already receives around 1,000 daily accommodation inquiries.

The new Croatian Njuskalo platform technically offers everything that big reservation platforms such as Booking.com and Airbnb do, and at the same time, it’s competitive in terms of service prices, because Njuskalo’s commission is half that of the aforementioned big accommodation rental players.

Instant booking services

“Njuskalo has been present in the tourism sector for several years now, primarily through the ‘on-demand model’, where we connect guests and renters who agree on the terms and conditions of a given tourist rental property. What’s new and what we’re proud of is that as of May of this year, we’ve been offering a certain number of accommodation units on our ‘instant booking’ model, which enables both guests and our partners to make instant reservations. Of course, that is done in full accordance with the available dates and valid prices”, they explained from the Croatian Njuskalo platform.

Marko Burcul, the Director of Tourism, added that the instant booking model was born from the needs of the market, which has largely been operating on this principle for some time. That meant that taking this step was actually a very logical sequence of the ongoing development of the Tourism offer of the existing platform.

“The first results have been very encouraging for us, and we hope to use the strength of Njuskalo throughout this season as well. We want to provide our guests with a good selection of accommodation facilities, and our rental partners with additional traffic, and all of that under very competitive commission conditions of 9.5 percent with VAT included,” revealed Burcul.

Collaboration between Njuskalo and MyRent

The collaboration between Njuskalo and MyRent, a domestic startup that provides digital transformation services for entrepreneurs in tourism, started this project back at the beginning of the year. MyRent provided channel manager technology to all of Njuskalo’s users and enabled the direct connection of apartments and business systems within the Njuskalo Tourism platform.

The user experience on the popular Croatian Njuskalo platform is no different from the listed competitors. The offer includes houses, villas and apartments, the search includes filters, so users can check the proximity to the sea, they can search for accommodation offers with a pool, a view, and so on. They can also search for accommodation that accepts pets. Guests are shown available accommodation in the dates they are searching for, and they can also search using a dynamic map, with the possibility of direct booking in that way.

Very competitive prices

Advertising on Njuskalo Tourism is free, and the commission is charged directly from the guest, during the realisation and payment for a rental service, as is the case on the majority of other major accommodation platforms. The difference is in the amount of the commission taken. Booking.com’s basic commission is 15 percent plus VAT, and it rises to 20 percent when some additional services are included. Renters advertising their properties on the new Croatian Njuskalo platform have more competitive prices, which is deeply desired in this period full of inflationary pressures and extra costs for businesses and individuals alike.
