ZAGREB, October 6, 2018 – A total of 50,073 new cars were sold in Croatia in the first nine months of 2018, up 20.6% over the same period in 2017 when 41,505 vehicles were sold, according to the Promocija Plus marketing agency.
A total of 2,906 units were sold in September alone, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.
In January-September 2018, the best-selling car brand was Volkswagen (VW), with 7,376 vehicles sold and a share in total sales of 14.7%. It was followed by Renault (4,937 vehicles sold and a share of 989%) and Opel (4,753 vehicles sold and a share of 9.4%).
The best-selling car model was the Skoda Octavia, with 2,590 units sold, ahead of the Renault Clio (2,317), and the VW Polo (1,779).
Of the cars sold, 27,937 or 55.8% use petrol, 21,027 or 42% are fuelled by diesel, 57 are electric cars (0.1%) and 619 hybrids (1.2%).
