Fire Breaks Out in Trogir Region, Rain Aids Firefighters

Total Croatia News

A great fire breaks out on July 2nd, 2017 in Trogir region reports Dalmacija Danas.

There have been storms and flashes of lightning, lighting up the sky all afternoon, which has caused several fires throughout the day. Just after 3pm today in the district of Trogir a fire broke out and spread quickly. Apparently, a strong explosion was heard and it is assumed it was a gas bottle or even a car explosion. But these are all speculations as there have been no official reports yet.

The smoke could be seen from Split, Čiovo, Šolta and I live in Dugi Rat and could see the hazy skyline from my terrace.

Firefighters were quick to respond and, with a little help from the rain have managed to bring the fire under control.

‘The rain helped us. The fire has taken a lot and we will have to see how the situations develops.’ – Milivoj Taslak, Commander of the Kaštela DVD tells Dalmacija Danas.

As yet, there has been no official statement as to the damage or whether there have been any serious injuries. Hopefully, the rainbows now showing across the sky are a good sign.
