September the 20th, 2026 – The popular coach service FlixBus has expanded its already enviable network to 258 destinations in Croatia.
Croatia is an important part of the Flix Europe East region, and Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe are among the areas with great potential for further development, says Michal Leman from Flix. Sinisa Malus reports for Poslovni that a decade of FlixBus operations in Croatia has now officially been marked. The company began providing services back in 2016 in four Croatian cities and in cooperation with four bus partners, and today in the wider Flix network it has more than 258 connected destinations in Croatia and 390 cities across Europe.
Michal Leman, Vice President Europe East of Flix, emphasises that the anniversary is not only a look back. “Croatia is now entering a new chapter in which we want to further develop domestic and international connectivity, in cooperation with our local partners. Croatia is an important part of the Flix Europe East region, and Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe are among the areas with great potential for further development.
We therefore see the future not only in new lines, but in even stronger partnerships, better connected markets and a greater number of opportunities for passengers,” Leman says. In the first ten years of operations, FlixBus in Croatia has transported 16.3 million passengers, and the growth of the network is best shown by the connectivity data: the number of direct connections to and from Croatia increased from 375 in 2016 to 4,471 in 2026.
The number of bus partners simultaneously rose from four to 15, while during 2026 FlixBus records an average of around 9,100 departures per month. Today a total of 128 lines operate from and to Croatia. Ten years of development has not meant only an increase in the number of lines and destinations, but above all growth in opportunities for passengers – from a greater choice of destinations and travel times to stronger linking of Croatian cities with neighbouring countries and the rest of Europe.
From the very beginning Croatia, was part of a wider story of regional connectivity. Only a year after entering the Croatian market, in 2017, FlixBus expanded to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia, thereby laying the foundations for stronger connectivity of Central and Southeastern Europe. Flix sees particular potential in Southeastern Europe, where stronger domestic and international connectivity can further bring individual markets closer together, but also better connect them with the rest of the European network.
