Extremely hot weather will reach peak tomorrow, after which a short period of cooler temperatures and heavy rainfall is forecast to begin on Friday.

Soaring 40 °C in Dalmatia today
According to Crometeo data and the network of automatic weather stations at pljusak.com, today at 2 P.M., temperatures reached 36°C in all Dalmatia, with 13 weather stations measuring 40 °C and higher. The lowest temperature in Croatia was, interestingly enough, measured in Dalmatia, at Sv. Jure peak on Biokovo, where the temperature was at pleasant 24°C.
Crometeo warns that the temperatures will rise for another degree or two tomorrow. Cooler temperatures and rainfall are expected on Friday in Lika and Gorski Kotar, north and central Dalmatia, south and west Zagorje, Banovina and Kordun.

Heatwave to peak tomorrow
The peak of this short-term heatwave will happen tomorrow, August 10, when it will be mostly sunny and very hot with temperatures rising up to 39 degrees Celsius. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon hours in the western parts of the country. The lowest morning temperature will be between 19 and 24 degrees on land, and from 23 to 28 in the Adriatic. The highest daily temperature will be between 34 and 39 degrees. Weak to moderate southeast and southwest wind will be blowing throughout the day.

Rain and thunderstorms on Friday
We can expect a sudden weather change and a drop in temperature on Friday. Showers and thunderstorms, forecast tomorrow for Lika and Gorski Kotar, will spread across the entire country on Friday and Saturday. The extreme heat might trigger strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall and even hail.
The weather is predicted to stabilize by the end of the week, with warm and hot weather continuing from the beginning of the next week.
