Thinking of setting off early to avoid the wait? HAK alludes that it won’t make a difference…
As Dubrovački Dnevnik reports on the 29th of July, 2017, despite warnings issued yesterday regarding where to avoid, it seems the traffic is unprecedented, even during the early hours of this morning.
Due to occasional targeted border controls and increased traffic, it’s likely that you’ll have to wait for much longer at certain border crossings with Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary. The Harmica border crossing (SLO) is reportedly closed for freight vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons.
To talk more locally for those of you in Dubrovnik planning to do a bit of country hopping, border crossings between the Republic of Croatia and neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are very crowded and long waits are to be expected regardless of the time of crossing:
HAK reported that long waiting times have been recorded at Gornji Brgat (Ivanica, Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina), Vitaljina (Croatia-Montenegro), Klek (Neum II, Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina), Zaton Doli (Neum II, Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina), Metković (Doljani, Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Karasovići (Debeli Brijeg, Croatia-Montenegro).
