Paličići dolls are produced from various fabrics and materials and are filled with cotton wool.
Sandra and Ivana Šeligo liked to design and create dolls even when they were very young. Their Palčići (Thumbelina) dolls were created when the saw hand-made dolls in a magazine and decided to produce their own unique toys. The inspiration for each doll is found in fairy tales, cartoons and very often in their imagination or customers’ wishes, reports Poslovni.hr on April 2, 2016.
“As the most important advantages of this design line, I would emphasize the recycling of materials and uniqueness of design. In making dolls we use old clothes made of natural materials which are completely harmless to children”, say Sandra and Ivana Šeligo.
For now, they produce Palčići toys on their own, with the help of friends and family members who help them make bodies of the dolls, while the sisters make clothes, hairstyles and other small details. Materials used are very varied, but usually include linen, wool, felt, colourful fabrics, and cotton wool for fillings.
They point out that each doll is different and unique. In accordance with their size, they have decided to call the dolls Palčići. In the last year and a half they have produced several hundred of these little dolls.
For now, they sell them only in the WooHoo online store and at various fairs and events where they participate as members of various creative associations. “Since these dolls are hand-made, it takes about three hours to produce a single doll. Our goal is to promote handicraft activities so that people could recognize all the hard work and of course lots of love that we invest in them”, explain the Šeligo sisters.
They note how today’s dolls are very different from the first one they produced and which they still keep as a memory, but with each new doll they strive to enrich them with additional details and to surprise buyers with new designs.
“It is our wish to open our own shop in the near future, where we could present all our ideas. Reactions from customers so far have been exceptionally positive. Our Palčići dolls are very attractive to kids who are thrilled to see these characters and always love to return to them”, conclude Sandra and Ivana Šeligo.
