Osmi Povjerenik will be screened in Los Angeles next month!
The Croatian nominee for the nomination in the category of Best Foreign Film will be screened on November the 15th, 2018, in Los Angeles, California.
As Morski writes on the 22nd of October, 2018, this is the event in which the Croatian Audiovisual Center (HAVC) and the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) will work together for the first time, and the organising team will be led by Jozo Patljak, the producer of the ”Eighth Commissioner” (Osmi Povjerenik).
”Every screening of a Croatian film in front of an American audience is a special occasion in which to remind ourselves of the great and important Croatian films that competed there for the American Academy award, the always popular Oscar. ”Osmi Povjerenik” is coming in on a wave of success (Surogat), as well as with numerous other nominations (Deveti krug, Bitka na Neretvi, Lutka snova…). The location of one of the most significant cinematographers in the United States, the Egyptian Theatre, will further enhance the [importance of] this year’s Croatian nominee for the Oscar nomination. The place is where HAVC and HTZ will collaborate for the first time internationally, creating the prerequisites for the better placement of each future Croatian Oscar nominee,” stated HAVC’s Daniel Rafaelić.
“There is an increasing number of tourists visiting interesting film sites which become attractive tourist destinations. The film industry significantly contributes to the visibility and popularity of individual sites, and our location where world-famous series and films are captured attract an increasing number of visitors from around the world. It’s certain that Croatia’s overall visibility and recognisability will be significantly contributed to by the Croatian film ”Osmi Povjerenik”, which is in the competition for the nomination for a prestigious Oscar. At the same time, this is a confirmation of the quality of our domestic production, but also of our locations which continue to attract a growing number of overseas productions with their special landscapes,” stated HTZ director Kristjan Staničić, adding that the visual image of a locality shapes the experience of the destination, as well as what the tourist expects from the visit itself.
The organisers of the premiere screening of the film “Eighth Commissioner” are: AlkaFilm, American Cinematheque, and the European Culture Club.
