June the 6th, 2025 – More new Qelo charging stations have popped up in various locations in Croatia as the country works hard to align itself with the EU’s electric mobility goals.
The European Union has some very ambitious plans regarding electric vehicles and greatly limiting the damaging effects of climate change. Croatia, as a country which is descended upon by countless foreign cars each and every summer season, is working hard to update its infrastructure to allow for electric vehicle owners and their ease.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, more new Qelo charging stations have appeared in various locations in the continental part of Croatia. Qelo is otherwise the first independent e-mobility service provider in the Republic of Croatia. It bases its innovative business model on European Union statistics and forecasts that there could be 40,000 electric vehicles on Croatia’s roads by next year alone. Those same EU forecasts claim that there could be as many as 200,000 such vehicles in Croatia by 2030. As such, Qelo is working diligently to continue to develop its network of charging stations across Croatia.
The latest Qelo charging stations in Croatia are located in the Stop Shop retail parks in the continental part of the country, namely Čakovec, Đakovo and Vinkovci. They are 100-kilowatt chargers with two ports and the possibility of upgrading, while the opening of the Qelo charging station in Nova Gradiška is scheduled for autumn this year.
As for the locations of super-fast chargers for e-vehicles, the latest “Rovinj City” charging station with four ports and a charging capacity of 400 kilowatts is expected some time this month. The second Rovinj Shop is located on an access road at the very entrance to that Istrian city.
The number of Qelo service and Qelo card users has increased by 15 percent in the past month to 3,300, which is slightly more than a third of the total number of electric car owners registered in Croatia.
The new Qelo charging stations in Croatia and the growth in the number of Qelo service users are a direct result of the recent bond issuance. The capital raised has been used to build the aforementioned new stations, with three more are currently under construction. A dozen more e-vehicle charging stations are in the process of being designed or obtaining the necessary approvals for operation across the country.
