World Down Syndrome Day was held on March 21, 2017.
Most of us here in Croatia are aware that the Croatian national football team has come back to Croatia in an effort to prepare for the upcoming European qualifier for the World Cup 2018 in Russia. Croatia will face Ukraine this Friday evening in Zagreb.
While the team has spent this week busy training in Zagreb, they made sure that had time to join in on the World Down Syndrome Day events that took place yesterday.
As part of the “Lots of Socks” campaign for World Down Syndrome Day, Croatian representatives wore brightly colored socks during their training. The “Lots of Socks” campaign encourages the conversation around World Down Syndrome Day through the action of wearing brightly colored socks: if you draw attention to yourself by wearing brightly colored socks, you’ll be able to spark a conversation with someone to tell them about World Down Syndrome Day.

Everyone around the world was urged to do the same and to especially use the hashtag #LOTSOFSOCKS across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to create an online community and even more awareness.
Here’s a look at how our Croatian national team brightened up their training yesterday for a good cause.
