Trapan Ins(l)ide Ice Hockey Tournament this Sunday in Pula
This year’s ice skating season in Pula is coming to a close this Sunday. As announced on the City of Pula website, the popular ice skating rink on Karolina, close to the famous Roman Arena, is closing till next winter.
To make the end of season special, the City of Pula, with sponsorship from the nearby Trapan Winery has organized the first annual ice hockey tournament. Erik Lukšić, director of Pula Sport d.o.o. and one of the organisers, said “This tournament is a great way to mark the closing of the skating season on Karolina. I invite all fans of ice skating and hockey to come and watch the tournament, which I believe will become an annual tradition”.
The main competition will consist of eight teams, and the junior competition four teams. Juniors start at 10am, and the main teams at 12 noon. Semifinals are expected at 5pm and the finals at 6pm. The rules are very simple, three on three with small goals and no goalkeeper, three five minute periods which should guarantee lively action.
This years main sponsor is Trapan Winery, the award winning south Istrian winery whose owner Bruno Trapan, has been working relentlessly on promoting Croatia and Croatian wines and all over the world.
The skating rink has been open for a month. As well as the opportunity for ice skating for everyone, the rink saw the New Years celebration and a masked ball on skates. Also in the morning hours all children from primary schools or younger could skate for free. The rink will reopen in December 2016.
