Can Sandra write European Championship history?

Croatia’s best female athlete will try to become the European champion for the fifth time on Saturday, something no one in the history of the European Championships has done before, reports tportal.hr on August 11, 2018.

Croatia’s outstanding 27-year-old athlete, ‘Discus Queen’ Sandra Perković, has a really impressive collection of trophies which include two Olympic gold medals, two World Championship gold and silver medals, a myriad of triumphs in the Diamond League and four European titles.

In the European Championships alone, Perković has been unstoppable and has thus never finished anything but first place in the competition. The Discus Queen’s winning series started in Barcelona in 2010, followed by victories in Helsinki, Zurich, and Amsterdam.

On Saturday evening, Sandra will hunt for her fifth consecutive European title, which has never been achieved in the history of this athletic competition before.

Fortunately, Perković has a good chance to do just that, as her 64.54-meter throw was three meters longer than the competition standard in the qualifiers – and we already know that Perković could launch a discus over 70 meters.

“I’ll do my best to write history again. I’ve been preparing for this competition for the entire year and I’m ready. Unlike many of those who take a break in the year during Olympic cycles, I do not want to rest but be the best. And to show that I’m ready for it,” the Croatian sports heroine announced confidently.

The final is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 20:15.
