The Croatian footballer talks about his favorite moments from his 200-game career in the jersey of the Catalan greats, Barcelona.

On Thursday at 21:00 in the 26th round of the Spanish La Liga, FC Barcelona will visit the Canary Islands to face Las Palmas, reports 24 Sata on March 1, 2018.

While the game shouldn’t be too difficult for the Catalan club to overcome, this Spanish league duel will be especially memorable for one Croatian footballer who will celebrate an essential jubilee at the club. Tonight, if Ivan Rakitić enters the game of play, he will record his 200th performance in the Barcelona shirt.

“The numbers are not important, and you always want many more, although this is an impressive number. I achieved this figure after three and a half years, and that is something I’ll talk to the grandkids about,” the Croatia national team player said about this milestone in his football career.

The 29-year-old also spoke about Goran Vučević and Robert Prosinečki, two Croatian footballers who played at the Catalan club before him.

“I know them both very well. I recently had coffee with Goran while he was in Barcelona. For years I worked with Prosinečki on the national team. I am very proud that I have attracted a number of fans in Croatia to support Barcelona because in history many Croatians played for Real. Croatia should be more for Barca than for Real,” Rakitić added.

The midfielder looked back at his best and favorite moments in the Barcelona jersey:

“There have been a few, but the first return to Sevilla I would definitely single out, as well as the final of the Champions League in Berlin. I will never forget that. The best match was against PSG, not for winning 6:1, but because of the way we played. What a story this was, it was unbelievable that we advanced.”

Ivan Rakitić joined Barcelona FC in 2014 and played 89.2 percent of matches since he signed for the famous club. His 199 appearances spread across La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey, Supercopa Espana, Supercopa Europa, and the Club World Cup, which is shown in an infographic by Mundo Deportivo.

Rakitić has won two La Liga titles, one Champions League, 3 Copas del Rey, 1 Supercopa Espana, 1 Supercopa Europa, and 1 Club World Cup. Ivan has also scored 30 goals for the Catalan club – 21 in La Liga, 5 in Champions League, and 4 in Copa del Rey.

Rakitić extended his contract at Barcelona through 2021.
