18 medal winners from Beijing will show off their skills on the 65th Hanžek memorial next week
Largest athletics event in Croatia, 65th Hanžek Memorial or the IAAF World Challenge Zagreb to be more precise is going to be a star studded event this year. As it was reported by the organisers, this year’s starting lists will include 4 world champions, 5 silver medalists and 9 bronze medal winners from the World Championship which just finished in Beijing, China.
Current world champions will compete in 110 m hurdles (Sergej Shubenkov), high-jump ( Marija Kučina) while two great gold medal winners in the last relay races, world record holder Asafa Powel (100m) and Novlene Williams- Mills (400 m) will also compete in their respected disciplines.

Blanka Vlašić (CRO) – high jump
Fabiana Murer (BRA) – pole vault
Sandra Perković (CRO) – discus
Natasha Hastings (USA) – relay 4×400 m
Fabrice Lapierre (AUS) long jump
BRONZE
Emily Infield (USA) – 10 000 m
Alina Talay (BLR) – 100 m hurdles
Cassandra Tate (USA) – 400 m hurdles

Michelle-Lee Ahye (TTO) – relay 4 x 100m

Event is organised in two locations, shot put competition starts on September 7th at 19:00 h by the Zagreb Fountains while the main event is at the Mladost Stadium, September 8th from 17:30 h. Entrance is free.
