Bjelovar Bilogorje County Expands its Tourism Offer with First Camp and Recreation Centre

Total Croatia News

A pioneering campsite story in continental Croatia.

While the media is full of excellent tourism news from the Croatian coast, the mainland is not sleeping either. Bjelovar Bilogorje county for instance, has a brand new campsite and a recreation centre, first one of its kind in the entire area. It was opened in the beginning of July and it was a private investment within a village homestead in Vinia near Bjelovar.

“This first campsite in our county was opened by Sapic family within their existing homestead. We already consider them to be the pioneers of tourism in our county and even though this is a relatively small campsite, first numbers and bookings, mostly by foreign guests, are great” director of the Bjelovar Bilogorje Tourist Board Jasna Fila stated for Hina. She added that this investment by the Sapic family is a great example of the cooperation between the county tourist board and the private sector which includes education, promotion and realisation of projects. Now, back to the campsite.

By combining wine growing, wine making, great local gastronomy, active holidays, equestrian tourism and of course great accommodation options in the heart of Bilogora, family Sapic has now created a real relaxation haven, perfect for those who want to spend their time surrounded by pristine nature and do not want to fight the crowds on the beach somewhere along the coast.

New campsite offers 4pitches for campers and room for 20 tents, as well as the already existing rooms in their homestead.

There are other great news coming from this county in terms of tourism investments. According to Ms Fila, Vika Bilogora was also opened a few weeks back (also a private project) as well as a large sport and recreation centre Veliki Grdjevac with several swimming pools, a kids playground, spots courts and various other facilities. The sports centre is worth 19 million kuna and most of it was financed though EU funds with the help of the County.

It seems Bjelovar Bilogorje county doesn’t intend to stop there, County prefect Damir Bajs stated that he is aware of the great tourism potential and that, with the help of EU funds and cooperation between the Tourist Board and the private sector, we can expect many other great tourism projects in the future.
