Croatian National Tourist Board Presents New Concept for Tourism Fairs

The National Tourist Board has a creative new solution for presenting Croatia at tourism fairs and exhibition

In May, the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) started the process of selecting a new concept and creative solution for tourism fairs, hrturizam.hr reported on July 14.

The selection process was carried out with the help of the Croatian Designers’ Association (Hrvatsko dizajnersko društvo, HDD), which also issued an invitation to tender.

A total of nine project tenders were submitted until July 3, and the jury, consisting of four HDD and three CNTB members, selected the three best projects. Instead of only one, the jury has chosen to give three equal awards in the amount of HRK 35,000 to all three projects because all three solutions matched the prescribed requirements.

Taking into account the functionality, estimated cost of work, previous experience, and multifunctionality, a special commission consisting of members from the Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian Tourist Board and the Tourist Council, made the final decision that a project by Groupa + Arhikultura (Tihana Taraba, Filip Despot, Christian Rendulić), called “Povezivanje raznolikosti i otvorenosti” (Connecting diversity and openness) will be executed.

The selected tender No. 07 suggests an effective “floating” exhibition of photographs as a key element of recognisability within the minimalist exhibition space. Changing types of photos depending on exhibition priorities (fair topics) provides a relatively simple and effective intervention into the exhibition space, which still requires additional attention when choosing photos. A well-organized space, clearly zoned according to the requirements, meets the different sizes of stalls and is easily applicable in different situations, HDD says.

The Croatian National Tourist Board and the selected team will further develop the proposed solution and it will be used at future fairs, with possibilities of additional amendments.

“Croatia is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world today, and in order to maintain that status, we need to keep up with trends and constantly strengthen our recognisability of the tourist market. That is why Croatia must be presented using an appropriate visual concept which will attract tourists from around the world. A continuous growth in quality in all segments is an imperative for Croatia’s competitiveness growth, and investing in a quality visual identity; i.e. building the image of our country, certainly plays a crucial part in it,” said Minister Cappelli.

The runners up were Retail Solutions/Accessus d.o.o (Roko Bahat, Tin Koprivc, Dora Biočić, Marko Balaša, Karolina Borković, Matej Goreta, Vilim Redza) and their “Sinergija elemenata motivacije putem osjetila” (Sensory synergy of motivational elements) and HR ( Bojana Bota, Kora Demel Zadro, Hrvoje Končar) with their “Hrvatska osobno” (Croatia personal).
