Slobodna Dalmacija reveals some hotel tricks to fill those July beds.
During this fantastic July for Croatian tourism, in which almost all hotel beds were completely full, some Croatian destinations have done even better than the others, according to a report in Slobodna Dalmacija on July 27, 2015. A free bed has been almost impossible to find.
Brela, Omiš, Split, Zadar, Opatija, Zaton, Konavle, Rogoznica, Šibenik, Bol, these are just some of the stars of July which saw a double-digit improvement in tourist statistics in comparison with the last year. Was it all just an accident, as tourist successes are quite often presented in public? Or, what it perhaps that last year’s July was a particularly bad one?
The answers to these questions show that in tourism nothing happens by accident. Many people do not realize how many new ideas have been implemented, how many new websites have been launched, and how many activities have been executed to stimulate guests to return to the same destinations.
Some hotel guests received one day free for six paid days, some hotels have offered to cover the road toll expenses, while the others have decided to pay for petrol expenses if guests stay for five days or longer. Last year’s problems with rain in July have brought about initiatives by some agencies to reduce the price for 50 percent for every day that it rains.
Some of the more imaginative hotels on the islands have decided to offer their guests free ferry tickets, while some apartment owners now allow guests to arrive early in the morning on their first day and to leave late in the afternoon on the last day of stay, which gives the guests almost two additional days of holidays.
These and other initiatives have proved that Croatian tourism is not even close to fulfilling its maximum potential, and that in the future years it could give even larger impetus to the Croatian economic growth.
