On sunny weekend days, the longest pier in Rijeka turns into a mecca for locals and tourists alike. Known as Molo Longo, the pier measures 1,7 kilometres in length and represents a perfect route if you’re out for a casual afternoon walk, overlooking the waterfront from a perspective that’s not often seen.
The first part of the pier serves as a ferry terminal, while the rest is used to berth fishing boats. The promenade is a perfect place to unwind without having to leave the city; it’s scattered with darling old couples sitting on benches, groups of friends gathering for a drink or two, as well as an occasional loner sitting down to fish in peace. Various boats and fishing nets laid out to dry make for wonderful scenery, evoking a feeling of strolling through a sort of an outdoor seaside gallery. Take a look at the photos below:
