Better future for a long forgotten pool complex.

The Town of Sveti Ivan Zelina has presented the main project and the complete documentation for the Zelina Aquapark, which the town will now send to public bodies and request their consent to issue a building permit. This will be a significant addition to the tourist offer of this town located some 30 kilometres northeast of Zagreb, reports tportal.hr on February 1, 2018.

“Getting a building permit is the final step before the start of the construction works. It is the most tangible indicator yet of our determination to realize the Zelina Aquapark project, which citizens are eagerly awaiting,” said Mayor Hrvoje Košćec said during the handover ceremony.

The project documentation consists of 14 parts of the central project and four additional studies and has been developed by PulSaR Architect studio from Zagreb. Authorized experts have developed architectural, construction, electrical, mechanical and geodetic projects in accordance with the construction requirements.

The aquapark project will be realized in the area of the former Zelina swimming pool complex, which was one of the most beautiful tourist centers of continental Croatia in the second half of last century, as well as a favorite excursion destination for thousands of citizens of Zagreb and others who came to have fun in Sveti Ivan Zelina.

The complex was shut down 15 years ago, and in 2013 the Town of Sveti Ivan Zelina began with the preparation of documentation to revitalize the area. The design proposal for the Zelina Aquapark was created by ActionPark WaterScapes from Spain in 2016. The project should be implemented in phases.

In the first phase, swimming pools will be built for swimming, bathing, and relaxation, as well as slides that will be used by both adults and children. The first phase will also include a giant “castle” with seven water slides, while an extra-high mega slide with other amenities will be added later. The entrance to the aquapark will include dressing rooms, toilets, and other obligatory facilities, but most of the area will be reserved for catering and entertainment establishment that can be open all year round – a club in the basement, a restaurant on the ground floor with a terrace, a large hall on the first floor that will be able to host a large number of guests and various events, a gym, a wellness, spa or beauty facility and the like.

The estimated project value is six million euro, and it provides an opportunity to involve additional potential investors at each stage of the project. The Zelina Aquapark has also been included in the list of capital initiatives of the Investment and Competitiveness Agency.
