Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism Marina Sekulić, project manager for the company Oroundo Darko Bilandžić, and director of the Tourist Board of Vukovar Jasna Babić presented the mobile application Oroundo at the City Hall in Vukovar.
“The City of Vukovar has invested considerable effort and resources in the tourism promotion of the city of Vukovar, and over elapsed time we introduced application “Vukovar at a glance”, in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Vukovar, and created a new brochure about the town of Vukovar. The novelty that we present today is Oroundo, a mobile city guide,” said Marina Sekulić, head of the Department of Culture and Tourism.
HRTurizam reports that the application, which uses modern Beacon Technology, gives visitors an increased level of availability and consumption of content through modern technology that delivers texts in several languages, audio guides, pictures and geo locations of all tourist attractions. This technology has only otherwise been used for the Vučedol Culture Museum, making Vukovar the first city to implement the technology.
Darko Bilandžić, marketing manager of the Museum of Vučedol Culture, said that after the introduction of Beacon Technology for the museum, there was such a positive response that the idea was conceived for the city of Vukovar.
Bilandžić added that Beacon technology is currently the most modern type of technology for cultural tourism promotion, and with this application, Vukovar will become more interesting and more interactive while the city is being explored.
“After the Vučedol Culture Museum first installed this technology and became the first museum to do so, now we can say that Vukovar is slowly becoming a ‘smart city’. An easy installation of the Oroundo application on your smartphone will instantly become a tourist guide for Vukovar. I am very pleased to say that Vukovar is the first city in Croatia to use this application with Beacon Technology,” concludes Bilandžić.
