No one has made a bigger breakthrough in wine growing and wine making as those from Zadar who regularly return with medals and awards from Sabatina

The 26th consecutive Sabatina by the Cooperative Alliance of Dalmatia, an international meeting of wine makers and wine growers, will be held this year in two states – Croatia and Bosnia&Herzegovina. The host town in Croatia is Split and in Bosnia&Herzegovina Neum, as was announced at the presentation of Sabatina in Zadar at the Agricultural High School Stanko Ožanić, as reported by Agroklub.com on October 1, 2016.

From October 10-11 in Split will be held an Economic Forum on Wine Growing and Wine Making, Wine Forum – promotion and tasting of Sabatina wines along with a meeting of wine makers, hoteliers and traders as well as a multimedia presentation “The fate of Split wine growing” with the promotion of the book “Split historical sparks.”

In the period from October 10-19, 2016 wine and liquor ratings will be held. The main Sabatina event will be held in Neum. The three-day programme of Sabatina, including a fair of wine growing and wine making, expert lectures, practical workshops, tastings and products exhibitions, will be held from November 3-6 in Neum.

An organised tour of wine growing-wine making destinations with practical presentations and historical-touristic sights will encompass Međugorje, Mostar and Čitluk. At the wine growing and wine making fair and market, exhibitions and wine tastings, around 300 presenters will participate – wine cooperatives, family farms, crafts and companies from Croatia and abroad.

At the presentation of this year’s Sabatina it was mentioned that this year’s grape harvest, in progress, is better than the last – but also unique. Special commendations went to wine makers and wine growers of Zadar County. No one has made a bigger breakthrough in wine growing and wine making as those from Zadar who regularly return with medals and awards from Sabatina, as noted by Željko Bašić of the Cooperative Alliance of Dalmatia.

Wine making and wine growing suffers from the standard ailments of domestic agriculture, meaning the lack of domestic production and import of cheap products and wine from states who subsidise export. This way wine import reached 32 million USD last year. Export is also growing. Domestic quality wines have achieved a 15% better price in export than on the domestic market, said the President of the Cooperative Alliance of Dalmatia Lordan Ljubenkov.
