June 16, 2023 – GO GROW is an event where Croatian and regional winemakers meet visitors, wine enthusiasts, and business visitors. GO GROW Du Monde was recently held in Osijek.
The 1st edition of the GO GROW conference is behind us. The conference is born as a result of the merger of GROW du Monde (abbreviation Grow: Graševina – Olasz riesling – Welsch riesling) and the GO Graševina conference. Go Grow took place today at the Business Center of Osijek-Baranja County (Gospodarska zona 10).
The conference was also dedicated to bringing foreign and domestic journalists to internationalize Croatian wines and position them on the global wine scene with a special emphasis on Graševina grape variety.
GROW du Monde and GO – Graševina Osijek
GROW du Monde is a project promoting Graševina on the international wine scene and specialized media worldwide, which traveled to key Graševina-producing countries yearly.
The honor of organizing this year’s Graševina evaluation went to the City of Kutjevo, and the wine-growing region of Slavonia and the Croatian Danube region, the ideal place to promote Graševina, as well as Croatian winemaking and viticulture.
The GO Conference on Graševina, traditionally organized by the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food and the Tourist Board of Osijek-Baranja County, has blended perfectly with GROW du Monde, creating a unique promotion of Graševina under the common name GO GROW.
Recognizing the potential of Graševina in the wider region
Croatia has a long tradition of viticulture, with every fourth vine being planted with Graševina grape variety. Graševina accounts for a remarkable 43% of the wine placed on the Croatian market and has proved to be serious export potential.
The wider region, especially Central and Eastern Europe, recognizes the potential of this variety, where the climatic conditions enable Graševina to develop and mature later, resulting in high-quality wines.
According to EUROSTAT data, Graševina covers nearly 20,000 hectares in the European Union. The increasing recognition of Graševina’s quality in foreign markets is evident in the significant participation of globally renowned experts in winemaking and viticulture who will be present during the GO GROW event in eastern Croatia.
Graševina unites counties and cities in eastern Croatia
In partnership with the counties of Osijek-Baranja, Virovitica-Podravina, Brod-Posavina, Požega-Slavonia, and Vukovar-Srijem, their tourist boards, as well as the cities of Kutjevo, Orahovica, Osijek, and Ilok, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food, Graševina Croatia, the Baranja Zmajevac Association of Vinegrowers, the Kutjevo Winemakers Association, and Vinart, a rich program showcasing the wine offerings of eastern Croatia has been prepared throughout the conference.
In addition to the wine evaluation in Kutjevo on June 14 and visits to the most important Graševina wine-growing regions, international and Croatian experts participated in GO GROW workshops at the Business Center of Osijek-Baranja County, where the winners of the GROW du Monde competition were announced, and a tasting of the top-rated wines was held for wine enthusiasts.
GO GROW will undoubtedly provide strong support to branding eastern Croatia as a world destination for wine tourism and Graševina as the most important Croatian white wine variety.
