November the 24th, 2024 – The giant Croatian company Podravka has opened its brand new 48 million euro LDC, thus concluding the most significant investment in its history.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, with the grand opening of the new logistics and distribution centre (LDC) in Koprivnica, worth more than 48 million euros, Podravka has concluded the most significant investment cycle in its history, which began back in 2021.
The new Podravka LDC, the construction of which actually began in March 2023, is located in the Danica industrial zone in Koprivnica. It has been carefully designed to meet the expected long-term needs for warehouse space on the Croatian market, with the possibility of further expansion. Spanning a total area of almost 26,000 m², the new Podravka LDC has a capacity of 62,000 pallet spaces, enabling the storage of up to 32,500 tonnes of products.
The new Podravka LDC is based on an advanced product storage and processing system that reduces internal transport. It also optimises costs and enables long-term energy savings, thereby significantly contributing to and reducing harmful CO₂ emissions.
the new podravka ldc will enable further success
“The commissioning of the new Podravka LDC rounds off our investment cycle and, at the same time, marks the beginning of a completely new phase in the company’s development. Strengthened by completely new factories, plants, appropriate working conditions for all employees and relying on their well-known dedication, Podravka is looking firmly to the future with great confidence.
In looking to that future, in achieving even greater success on the market struggle in which we participate daily from America to Australia, we’re filled with additional strength and motivation by the fact that we’re a Croatian company. We’re a very successful Croatian company that proves through our financial results that Croatian ownership is the source of all of our advantages and strength.
The new Podravka LDC isn’t just another new building – it’s the foundation of a new era in this company’s business. By optimising logistics processes, reducing costs and reducing CO₂ emissions, we’ve created the conditions for greater operational efficiency and sustainable business. I’d therefore like to sincerely thank each and every one of our employees and project managers for the contribution you’ve all made, and the energy you have invested in achieving everything we see around us today,” said Martina Dalić, President of the Podravka Management Board.
podravka’s commitment to sustainable development
The new Podravka LDC is 36.5 metres tall, which makes it taller than its own business headquarters. Its construction includes 2,300 tonnes of reinforced iron and 19,000 cubic metres of concrete.
By building this huge new centre, Podravka is further strengthening its commitment to sustainable development. By optimising logistics processes and reducing internal transport, the new technology ensures long-term savings in energy consumption and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The introduction of self-supporting racking construction and highly efficient storage systems contributes to environmental sustainability and represents a milestone in Podravka’s business operations.
This now completed investment cycle, which was carried out in accordance with the Business Strategy until 2025, marks the largest modernisation step in Podravka’s history. It carries a total value that should ultimately reach around 250 million euros. Through these investments, production capacities were modernised, new technologies were introduced, working conditions were improved, and the foundations for long-term sustainability and growth were very firmly laid.
