Looking to get from the airport downtown quickly? You will be hard pressed to beat the European Coastal Airlines service in Split, which was road tested by TCN on May 26, 2016 – three minutes and 56 seconds! Watch the video.
The European Coastal Airlines seaplane service has slashed travel times along the Croatian (and now Italian) coast since its introduction in August 2014. Where once a two-hour ferry was the main option, today a 15-minute picturesque flight. The 11-hour bus journey from Split to Pula can now be enjoyed in just one hour, with a stunning flight over the Croatian coast thrown in for free. The overnight ten-hour ferry from Split to Ancona is now just a 59-minute transfer. The list goes on.
But if you are looking for the shortest flight…
The ECA schedule includes an occasional flight from the Resnik head station next to Split Airport to and from its location in downtown Split, as the airline has a refueling station at Resnik.
On a flight from Jelsa to downtown Split earlier this week, we popped into Resnik to pick up some fuel, and then took off again, for a flight which lasted less than four minutes. Not quite the shortest flight in Europe (that takes place in Scotland), but surely the most beautiful for the stunning Adriatic coastline every second of the way. Check it out below.
