Split is no stranger to a vibrant nightlife scene. Whether you’re here in the hot high season or the more civilized off season, you’ll never have too hard a time finding drinking establishments you’ll be calling your favorite by the end of the night.
Here are some of the best nightlife institutions Split has to offer.
Where to begin your night…
Sanctuary: Having just opened a year ago, Sanctuary is known as the place for craft cocktails in Split. Boasting an impressive menu that ranges from tropical cocktails to exhibitionist era favorites, Sanctuary also offers Croatian craft beers and has begun infusing their own liquors. Happy hour specials daily, a lively atmosphere, and the perfect mix of locals and tourists make for a guaranteed good time at this bar.
Charlie’s Bar: Known as the hostel bar, Charlie’s Bar is one of the most legendary drinking institutions in Split. Charlie’s is located just a jump away from Sanctuary, and in the summertime, you’ll find bar patrons pouring out into the alleyway and into the newest member of the family, Charlie’s 2. Truly known as the mecca for international partygoers, Charlie’s bartenders keep the atmosphere loud, full of life, booze, and a whole lot of dancing. If you’re looking for a big night out in Split, you’ll definitely want to have a drink (or 3) at Charlie’s.
Shooters: Known as the first shooters bar in Croatia, Shotgun is located in the most bohemian area of Split – Get. As you might assume from the name, Shotgun serves shooters and a lot of them. While the bar might be small, the neon lights and provocative shot names (Naked Waitress, MILF, or Booty Call, anyone?) surely make up for any lost space. Another perk? They even sell nachos!
Fabrique Pub: Cafe and restaurant by day, and a Split favorite cocktail and beer house by night, Fabrique has surely won over the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Offering one of the largest beer selections in Split, Fabrique also offers trivia nights, DJs on the weekends, and a place so packed with people it’ll be hard to leave.
Jazzbina: Another pub in Split, Jazzbina also offers bar bites, a big selection of beers, and even live music on the weekends. Stone and wood covered walls and a seriously loud atmosphere, you’ll oftentimes find Jazzbina packed to the brim, with a crowd formed mostly by locals and tourists brave enough to learn Croatian songs. Jazzbina also hosts various DJ nights, so why not come out dancing here?
Where to go once the bars have closed…
Bačvice: If you’re looking to continue the party until the early morning hours, Bačvice is always a good place to go in the summer. Packed with partygoers young and old, you can take your pick from the various bars and clubs Bačvice has on offer including the most popular Tropic and Club Bačvice. A definite favorite among tourists to Split, a night on Bačvice means you’ll be staying until the sunrise.
Central: The hottest nightclub in Split, Central opened last summer with a bang – and the excitement of the opening hasn’t quite died down yet. In the summertime, Central is a great alternative to the bars on Bačvice if you’re looking for something a bit more…classy. While there is an entrance fee that could get a little steep, Central’s interior boasts two floors, flying dancers, and the best sound system in Split. The club offers different themed nights with DJs playing everything from hip hop to top 40.
Kuka: We’ve mentioned Kuka before as a place you shouldn’t miss if you want to get the true local feel of Split, and we’ll mention Kuka again as a place you shouldn’t miss if you’re looking for a good time in Split. While the club doesn’t open until midnight, you’ll find it already packed with dancing bodies and loud screams singing the favorite domestic and international hits from the past. You won’t find top 40 here, and that is why Kuka has remained one of the genuine establishments in the city. The entrance fee is always around 20 kuna, and drinks are reasonably priced.
Kocka: The place where the alternative crowd hangs out in Split, Kocka is located about a 10 minute walk outside of the center. The cement walls are filled with graffiti, the lighting is dim, and you’ll find many of Split’s artists and musicians choosing Kocka as their late night go-to. Various DJ nights and concerts are held at the club, and you’ll find that drinks are cheap, too!
