9 cruise ships and 9,287 passengers will arrive in Dubrovnik today, with yet more arriving tomorrow.
As DuList reports on the 10th of August, 2017, seven ships will on round trips carrying 9,287 passengers are set to arrive in Dubrovnik today.
The AIDA Cruises AIDAblu ship, carrying 2,500 guests will leave Gruz today at 16:00, while the MSC Sinfonia with more than 2,600 passengers arrives at 12:00 and Costa Luminosa at 16:00. The departure of the Symphony ship is scheduled for 20:00, and Coste the next day, August the 11th at 13:00.
On Friday, two ships have been announced: MSC Poesie and the truly enormous Celebrity Constellation, with a total capacity of 5,151 passengers. An additional 6,032 visitors are expected to arrive on five ships on Saturday.
With about 25,000 guests in both hotel and private accommodation, today and Friday morning are expected to be extremely busy and the City of Dubrovnik asks for patience and understanding from residents. Semi-blocked entrances to the Old City, crowded roads, and greater pressure on pedestrian traffic in the area of the historic core and surrounding areas are predicted.
Owing to the expected huge crowds and in the name of efficiency, the Port Administration of Dubrovnik will therefore continue to apply the new regime for the periodic “launching” of the shuttle bus to Old City at intervals. All the competent services of the City of Dubrovnik, Sanitat and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board are ready to properly deal with excess crowding and any road blockages.
