Need for Speed? Swimming Season Opens at Kašjuni, BMW Ends Up in Sea

Daniela Rogulj

We know that many of us like to rush into summer, and with the weather as good as we have been having here in Split, we’d recommended you run, and don’t walk (or drive, for instance) to your favorite Split beaches.

May 25, 2018 – It comes as no surprise that famous Split beaches have seen their fair share of swimmers already, and with temperatures on the rise, we can say that the swimming season in Split is officially open.

While we’re all in a rush to soak up the sun’s rays and feel the crisp Adriatic sea on our skin, there are more than a few ways to get to the beach quickly, and safely – in other words, not like this BMW on Friday afternoon.

Split’s Kašjuni beach, famous for Joe’s Beach Bar and the steep Marjan cliffs that encompass you during your swim, saw one especially eager beachgoer yesterday who yearned for the beach so badly, their BMW ended up in the shallow part of the sea.

Thankfully no one was hurt (expect for the car) and the incident prompted fellow beachgoers to capture the funny moment – which was even picked up by popular Facebook page ‘Traffic Incidents and Accidents’ (Prometne zgode i nezgode).

The Facebook comments that followed made light of the unfortunate event.

“When nobody tells you where you can park”, “The swimming season is open”, and “Bro, what are you doing?” are some of our favorites.

The owner of the vehicle, while completely embarrassed, must not have enjoyed bucketing out the water from his pretty ride.

If anything, this should be a lesson to all – by all means, get to the beach, but please get there safely!
