New Photo Competition Emphasizes Need to Preserve Natural and Cultural Heritage of Marjan

Daniela Rogulj

“Marjan – A Symbol and Inspiration” is a photography exhibition that will be held at the end of this year in an effort to emphasize the need to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of Marjan.

Marjan Park Forest and the Fotoklub of Split have organized a tender for the photography exhibition “Marjan – A Symbol and Inspiration”, writes on March 6, 2017.

The goal of the exhibition will be to present the beauty of Marjan in all its glory while emphasizing the need to preserve its natural and cultural heritage. It should be noted that Marjan is a specially protected area where there is a range of protected cultural monuments. The park is also protected in the category of “park forest” as a cultural asset.

The tender for the exhibition is open to all citizens who are engaged in photography, whether they be professional or amateur. The best photos will be displayed in an exhibition at the Fotoklub Split in January 2018, with the possibility of future exhibitions organized by Marjan Park Forest.

The celebrated Marjan certainly stands out as one of the main attractions of Split and is surely considered the “green lungs” of the city. The area is rich in natural beauty, lookouts, swimming areas, monuments to individual artists, and religious and cultural monuments. All of these cultural and artistic monuments in Marjan, in fact, hold a special place in the history of Split.

Marjan Forest Park and Fotoklub Split stress the problem of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the park, as well as its reconstruction, especially in a time full of tourism to the city that breathes beneath it.
