The New Program for HNK Split Boasts 10 Premieres

With as many as 12 concerts, premiere performances of 6 plays, 2 operas and ballets, HNK Split has released the program of the new theatre season where all lovers of culture will find something of interest.

For the opera program, “Mala Floramy” by Ivo Tijardovića will premiere, conducted by Hari Zlodre and directed by Goran Golovko. The audience will also enjoy a premiere performance of “La Forza del Destino” by Giuseppe Verdi. Other opera performances will be Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly”, Bizet’s “Carmen”, Verdi’s “Ernani”, Gotovac “Ero”, and Tijardovićev “Spli’ski akvarel”.

 

Six premieres will be performed for the drama program. The first will begin on November 18th and will be “Six Characters in Search of an Author” by Luigi Pirandello. The play “Enemy of the People” by Henrik Ibsen will be enjoyed by audiences on January 21, 2017,  and on April 7, 2017 “Rhinoceros” by Eugene Ionesco will premiere.

 

For the small stage, “Clara Schumann” by Valeria Moretti will be carried out in January, as well as “What are we waiting for?” by Mary Dukic. The last of the drama premieres is scheduled for February 18, and will be “Romance About Three Loves” by Anthony Šoljana with director Nikola Simic.

 

For the drama reruns, the program will be “Kašeta brokava” by Elvis Bosnjak, “Melodrama” by Jelena Kovacic and Anica Tomic, “The Terrible Parents” by Jean Cocteau, “Buza” by Zivko Jeličića and “Čudo u Poskokovoj Dragi” by Ante Tomic. The Small Stage will reprise “Small Marital Crimes” by Eric Emmanuel Schmitt, “Tales of Vukovar” by Sinisa Glavašević, “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka, and the “Golden Dragon” by Roland Schimmelpfennig.

 

In addition to opera and drama, there will also be two ballet premieres. “La Sylphide” by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, choreographed by August Bournonville, will premiere on March 10, 2017. In May 2017, choreographed by Sasa Eftimova, Igor Kirov and Stephen Delattre, the ballet triptych “East / West (East / West)” will premiere, as well as reprises of Igor Kirov’s “5-12” and “On the Road”, “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and “La Fille Mal Gardée” by Harold F. and L. Hertel.

 

For concerts, on October 31, the Church of Our Lady of Health Choir and the Orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Split will perform, sung by Valentina Fijačko Kobić, Terezija Kusanović, Bože Jurić Pešić, Ivica Čikeš, and Mladen Tarbuk. On November 10, the First Symphony Orchestra will perform, conducted by Harry Zlodre. On the 25th anniversary of the death of Boris Papandopulo, the 45th anniversary of the first performance of the cantata, and the 70th anniversary of the Parish of Our Lady of Health, the concert “Cantata Our Lady of Health” will be held on November 19.

 

Two days before Christmas, there will be a “Christmas Concert” which will be conducted by Crnojezerska with Goran Listeš on guitar. The New Year’s concert is scheduled for the 28, 29 and 30 of December, where the soloists will be Andrea Jelavic on flute and Ante Jelincic on clarinet, playing waltzes and polkas. On the 13th of January, the Second Symphony Concert will be held, conducted by Alan Belinsky. Following that, on the then 17th and 18th of March, will be the Beethoven- Piano Concerto. The Third Symphony concert will be on April 20.
