Calling all art lovers!
Craving some quality cultural experience? You’re in luck: The Gallery Rally (Reli po galerijama) is back with its 4th edition, taking place in Zagreb and Rijeka simultaneously. On Thursday, May 25th, the participants are challenged to visit as many galleries as they can between 5 PM and 10 PM and race against the clock to “save culture from decay”.
Borrowing the acronym RPG from the term role playing game, the manifestation is setting the metaphorical stage in a pretty attractive way, calling the participants players instead of visitors and infusing the event with a healthy dose of competitiveness. Visiting each individual gallery gets you a sticker to put on your map, and whoever manages to pass through all the checkpoints within given time limits gets an unofficial charter as a token of gratitude for saving the culture in need.
By connecting all the galleries into a cultural network resembling a world map from any given video game, the project manages to draw attention away from state institutions and put smaller, independent art spaces in the spotlight, promoting contemporary Croatian artists along the way. That’s a pretty good reason to down a large cup of coffee and get hyped ro run around town!
Here’s a list of all participating galleries in both cities:
Street art Studio Lapo Lapo
Galerija Matice Hrvatske
HDLU / Bačva / PM / Prsten
Galerija Laval Nugent
Oris – House of architecture
