September the 26th, 2024 – Aspect Croatia has come upon a significant gas deposit not too far from Sisak in the continental part of the country.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Aspect Croatia has discovered a gas reservoir at the Trebarjevo-1 exploratory well, a mere ten kilometres southeast of Sisak. The Ministry of Economy reported the aforementioned, and the Hydrocarbons Agency was also informed of the discovery.

The Trebarjevo – 1 well is located within the SAVA-06 exploration area, which extends mostly over Zagreb County, and a smaller part covers Sisak-Moslavina and Koprivnica-Križevci, as well as the City of Zagreb itself.

Its construction began back in June of this year, and on June the 23rd, the final depth of 1,670 metres was reached. The well met initial expectations by revealing hydrocarbon saturation.

Marijan Krpan, President of the Management Board of the Hydrocarbons Agency, stated that between 160 and 320,000 cubic metres of gas was obtained by testing the well, which represents about 10% of the total daily gas production in all of Croatia.

“Over more recent years, we’ve witnessed the constant volatility of gas prices, and therefore we must welcome any news about an increase in domestic production. Any molecule of gas that we produce here in domestic fields means much less dependence on imports. In this case, due to the favourable contract we have with the investor, it also implies significant money for the budget”, said Ante Šušnjar.

Aspect Croatia Kft. is otherwise a subsidiary of Aspect Holdings, headquartered in Denver, Colorado. In 2020, it signed a contract with the Croatian Government on the exploration and sharing of hydrocarbon exploitation for the SAVA-06 exploration area.
