Italian Company Plans Six Million Euro Investment in Vukovar

Could Croatia’s Hero City be in for the boost of all boosts?

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 19th of March, 2018, potential Italian investors presented themselves and their plans to the Eastern Croatian city of Vukovar at a conference in Padua.

The Italian company La Sanfermese, which has a long, respectable history and which cooperates closely with well-known pasta producers such as Barilla and Mulino Bianca, plans to invest six million euro in production in the Vukovar area and the search is currently on for 60,000 square metres of land on which to set the ball rolling in Croatia, in a move which is likely to bring enormous benefit to Vukovar and its people.

Vukovar Mayor Ivan Penava met with the owner of the large Italian company, and as was stated on Facebook following the meeting, the Italian company has recently turned its sights to the production of gluten-free organic corn, much to the delight and ease of coeliac (celiac) disease sufferers.

He also said that the company mostly cooperates with farmers from Eastern Slavonia and Baranja, and therefore Vukovar is ideally positioned geographically when it comes to exporting produce to Western Europe due to the considerably lower transport costs.
