January the 21st, 2025 – There’s been a welcome 5% increase in continental Croatian tourism thanks to investment. With that said, seven coastal Croatian counties still account for 95% of the entire tourism picture.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina stated in Vukovar on Friday that the government has placed great emphasis on the development of the continental part of the country through all its investments. He added that as much as 75 percent of the total allocation of funds from the National Tourism Development Fund is intended for continental Croatian tourism development, both for public infrastructure and for private enterprises.

“We’re talking about a total of 52 projects, which have been co-financed with almost 270 million euros. All these investments are already bringing results, which is confirmed by the general increase in continental Croatian tourism traffic, which in 2024 was 5 percent better in terms of both arrivals and overnight stays compared to 2023,” said Glavina.

He added that 95 percent of tourist traffic in Croatia is still accounted for by seven Adriatic counties, but that this is something that has been created for decades. Plenty of growth in continental Croatian tourism is still expected.

Speaking about expectations for this tourist season, he said that it would be extremely demanding for several reasons and that he would be satisfied if Croatia repeated last year’s tourism results.

He also noted that Croatia recorded a small decline of 0.7 percent in the third quarter compared to a year earlier, “which shows that we’ve reached a price zenith and that if we don’t correct some things, the country will inevitably see a decline in tourist traffic.”
