February the 2nd, 2025 – The second, larger Croatian boycott against retailers took place on January the 31st, seeing traffic drop by 44% compared to two weeks ago.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Tax Administration has published its most recent data on sales and the number of receipts issued for Friday the 31st of January. That was the date of the second major Croatian boycott against the retail sector. In retail trade, an enormous 26.5 million euros in turnover was lost in a single day.
Given the great interest of the public, the latest data from the fiscalisation system has been released, which includes the number and amount of receipts issued. The data from the fiscalisation system was compared for the 24th of January, the day of the initial Croatian boycott, and the 31st of January, the day of the second one. Those dates were also compared with January the 17th, a normal, non-boycott business day.
The data has been presented for All activities and economic activities within G-47- Retail trade, with the exception of the sale of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

On Friday the 31st of January, the total number of fiscalised receipts stood at 5,670,377, and the amount on those receipts amounted to 89,275,886.35 euros. On Friday the 24th of January, the total number of fiscalised receipts came to 5,096,083, and the amount totalled 78,373,051.19 euros. On Friday the 17th of January, when there was no Croatian boycott, the total number of fiscalised receipts reached 7,195,480, and the amount was 121,898,234.32 euros in total.
This data shows that the number of receipts issued on the 31st of January, the day of the Croatian boycott was 11% higher than on Friday the 24th, also a boycott day. In addition, the amount on those receipts was also 14% higher. Furthermore, on Friday the 31st of January compared to the 17th of January, the number of receipts was 21% lower, while the amount was also 27% less.
With everything taken into account, the data shows that the number of invoices on the 31st of January was 20% higher than on the 24th, despite both being Croatian boycott says. The amount on those receipts was also 19% higher. Furthermore, when comparing Friday the 31st to Friday the 17th, the number of issued receipts was 32% lower, while the amount on those receipts was also 44% less.
